For this week’s Cosplay Sundae goodness, we’ve got the popular Usagi Tsukimiya cosplaying Hatsune Miku, the Otaku-popular ‘virtual idol’ from the Yamaha’s 2007 Vocaloid, computer software responsible for synthesizing J-pop style singing to user-entered lyrics and melody.
Hatsune Miku was the first Vocaloid character produced, with her name derived from the combination of Hatsu (first), Ne (sound), Miku (future). The actual data used to generate the end product synthesized voice was in fact built up by sampling the voice of Saki Fujita, an established Japanese voice actress.
Needless to say, we have absolutely no idea as to whether or not Ms. Usagi has any singing talent at all, but at least we do now know that she can certainly pull off the necessary look with the utmost of style and cuteness! :)
