Ubuntu Terminal: How to Delete a System User Account Tips, Tricks and Tutorials 03 AUG 2010

ubuntu-10-logoTo delete a user account off your Ubuntu server or desktop via terminal is pretty simple, thanks to the useful userdel command.

Given the username of the user account to delete, simply run:

sudo userdel -f usernametodelete

Of course, in the usual fashion of not giving you any feedback unless asked for it, the specified user account will be removed off the system.

To find out more of the switches available to you, refer to the man page:

man userdel

Simple and nifty.

Another stunning evening out on Strand beach here in the Helderberg. #beachwalk #beach #strandbeach #strand #helderberg #southafrica #anexploringsouthafrican
Full on film/tv shoot happening on the beach this evening, complete with summer dress and a kite flapping in the sky. #filmshoot #tvshoot #beachwalk #beach #strandbeach #strand #helderberg #southafrica #anexploringsouthafrican
A big band of surfskis dipping their paddles into the water. #surfski #beachwalk #beach #strandbeach #strand #helderberg #southafrica #anexploringsouthafrican
Chantelle is watering the lawn, Jessica is on her in-line skates, and I am strolling around the complex with Emily on a scooter. Beautiful evening to kick off the week here in Gordon's Bay. #scooter #countrymews #complexlife #gordonsbay #helderberg #southafrica #anexploringsouthafrican
The ever picturesque Hibernian Towers swathed in clouds. Popped into Cape Cafe ( @capecafestrand ) for breakfast with Chantelle ( @thehelderbergcakecompany ) this morning. #hiberniantowers #capecafe #capecafestrand #strand #helderberg #southafrica #anexploringsouthafrican
It's a bit tucked away on the inside of the central column on the bottom floor of Hibernian Towers, but man does Cape Cafe ( @capecafestrand ) make an absolutely delicious Eggs Benedict breakfast. Pro Tip: their pizzas (which we have indulged in more than once) are even more delectable! Thanks @thehelderbergcakecompany for getting me finally to sit down here this morning! :) #breakfast #eggsbenedict #capecafe #capecafestrand #hiberniantowers #strand #helderberg #southafrica #anexploringsouthafrican
