What, who, where am I?!?
Craig Lotter is a web developer based in Gordon's Bay, South Africa, who seems completely incapable of shaking off that pesky inner child within, the one that forces him to love all things animated or hand drawn.
The Rugged Rock of Craig contains snippets of his life, popular culture and all the important things like anime, manga, games and comic books. The CodeUnit of Craig on the other hand contains the more serious stuff like code snippets and tutorials, while the House of C chronicles his foray into the world of web comics.
For which it never seems he has enough time anyway.

Train ‘Em Hard!

Wow, what an awesome privilege I had at karate training last night! Sensei Birgitt Smit asked me (who is currently only a yellow belt in our particular Funakoshi style) to take over the reins for about a half a hour … Continue reading
A Little Yellow in You?

Annoyingly, my fairly brand new large white karate dogi is already looking worse for wear, and no, I’m not referring to the wonderful patch and reinforcing job that mom performed to repair the rather gaping hole that was exposing my … Continue reading

Moving up the Ranks: A little Something to Keep in Mind

Today life is very much about instant gratification and the things that we think we want – bigger televisions, faster cars, brand name clothing, cutting edge cellphones, etc. We tend to want these things because in general, we feel that … Continue reading

In Response to my earlier Observations…

This morning I received a wonderful comment from Maria, a black belt training partner from our dojo, responding to a post I wrote some time back regarding the Funakoshi grading system. I thought it only fair to publish both her … Continue reading
