Kill la Kill is set at Honnouji Academy, a fictional high school in Tokyo Bay set in post-apocalyptic Japan that is dominated by its fearsome student council, led by Satsuki Kiryuin. The council members wear special uniforms called Goku Uniforms that grant them superhuman abilities, which they use to oppress the rest of the school’s students and staff. Ryuko Matoi, a 17-year-old vagrant schoolgirl wielding half a scissor-shaped longsword, transfers to Honnouji Academy in search of the owner of the other half of the scissor blade, the person who killed her father.

Defeated by the council after interrogating Satsuki over the killer’s identity and whereabouts, Ryuko comes across a sentient sailor uniform she names Senketsu, who puts himself on Ryuko. Using Senketsu’s special abilities, Ryuko stands up against Satsuki and her henchmen, the Four Heavenly Kings, to liberate Honnouji Academy from their iron grip and find out the truth behind her father’s murder.

The King of Fighters Cosplay: Mai Shiranui (Mei Wai) Cosplay 24 JUL 2013

Mai Shiranui is pretty much the poster girl for the Sexy Girl in fighting video games phenomena, recognized for her skimpy clothing, ample bust, and of course dripping sex appeal (and she’s not that bad a fighter either!).

Chinese cosplayer Mei Wai rises up to the challenge of bringing to life SNK’s premier fighting girl!

Mai Shiranui is a player character in both the Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series of fighting games by SNK and in related media, also appearing in a large number of other games. Since her first appearance in 1992, Mai has been converted and recognized as the main sex symbol of SNK, becoming one of the most popular female characters of video gaming in general.

Mai Shiranui is the granddaughter of Hanzo Shiranui, the now-deceased master of ninjitsu and an art of Shiranui-ryū ninja hand-to-hand combat called koppo-ken. In her mind, Andy Bogard, who studied Shiranui ninjutsu with her grandfather since their early teens, is her fiancé; the relationship between the two is often ambiguous (usually on the part of Andy). Mai has also studied at her grandfather’s friend, the judo master Jubei Yamada.

She uses a closed fan while fighting and is able to create and control fire (“Shiranui” is the Japanese name for will-o’-the-wisp).

One Piece Cosplay: Boa Hancock (Ahane) Cosplay 13 APR 2012

Asian cosplayer Ahane dons the decadent robes of Boa Hancock, as she tackles the look of the Snake Princess from the ever popular One Piece manga.

The extraordinary beauty, Boa Hancock is the only female member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, and leader of the all-female Kuja tribe, as well as being the ruler of Amazon Lily, again an island populated solely by woman.

Her vanity is such that she believes no matter what she does, no matter how bad it is, she will be forgiven simply for her beauty. Of course this means she has no qualms in injuring pirates, marines or even her own people.

As a child, she and her two sisters were sold as slaves to the Celestial Dragons, where they first encountered the Devil Fruits. Bearing the mark of the celestial dragon on her back, Boa possesses the King Ambition ability, and is able to turn anyone who is charmed by her into stone.

Entranced by the infallible Luffy, Boa eventually falls in love with the boy who would be Pirate King and helps him whenever she can. Her bounty currently sits at 80,000,000 Berries in case you were wondering.

OS Idol Win-chan (Version 2.0) My Reviews | Toys 19 NOV 2008

I mentioned the fact that Ryan purchased the highly adorable, rather voluptuous and very risqué Win-chan last weekend, a figurine that you can only own if

a) Your girlfriend shares your passion for all things Asian,
b) You don’t have a girlfriend, or
c) You have a sturdy lock on the door to your ‘office’.

Needless to say, I don’t qualify for any of the above three, meaning that Win-chan shall never coyly languish upon my desk. (In any event, Conan and the rest of his barbarian horde probably wouldn’t appreciate her languishing in their spot either.)

Now, back to Win-chan herself.

OS Idol Win-chan Version 2 figurine 1

Her full name is OS Idol Win-chan (Version 2.0) and she doesn’t come from any particular series. Manufactured by Kaiyodo, this 1/7 PVC scale figurine is based on Mine Yoshizaki’s Win-chan character created for Japanese magazine Tech Win, a monthly publication that deals with Microsoft’s Windows operating system.

The model itself is beautifully realized in hard-wearing PVC and is modelled extremely cleanly with almost no seam lines and a particularly cute facial expression. Of course the main outstanding feature is Win-chan’s outrageous hairstyle and the modeller has certainly pulled this one off with quite some flair. Of course, one really has to be squint not to notice the fact that this is one of those bikini-models, so we’ll just leave it at the pose is quite nicely done, well proportioned and manages to come across very playful all rolled into one.

The paint job looks pretty neat and colourful, with no seepages or any real discolorations to speak of. That said, she is just a tad over-shaded on her underside, but seeing as the model isn’t really made to pose this way, this isn’t a particularly glaring problem. Oh, and her stand is actually a pretty nice touch too – a fake ‘Win-chan CD’, thereby by nicely cementing the whole ‘OS Idol’ angle.

The box packaging is pretty good it must be said, complete with fake Windows and Compact Disc logos and also features some original artwork from Mine Yoshizaki. The inside packaging is secure and also provides a good giggle thanks to its female bits hugging moulding :)

All in all, Win-chan is an adorable, risqué little production that is well priced and should fit nicely on any otaku’s desk – provided they fulfil requirements A to C previously mentioned.
