Celebrating Mother’s Day with a Picnic in Green Point Park, Cape Town (2018-05-13) Photo Gallery 15 MAY 2018

Instead of the usual big Sunday lunch at one of our houses with the rest of the family for Mother’s Day, this year Chantelle came up with the idea of getting everyone together for a big celebratory picnic – settling on the gorgeous Green Point Park (in Cape Town) as the perfect venue for the event.

We arrived early on the day, and as luck would have it, we snagged a table and, more importantly, the weather played along brilliantly, dealing us with a sunshine-filled, windless Autumn day – perfect for all the little ones to run around and play.

In terms of family joining in on the fun, it was Chantelle’s mom and dad, my mom and dad, my brother, my sister and her husband, and of course all the kids – our two girls, and Claire’s three boys!

Loads of food, plenty of conversation, and lots of fun. Basically the perfect recipe for spending a full day enjoying both the company and the stunning surrounds!

With my phone’s battery currently playing up (it needs to be replaced ASAP), I didn’t exactly bother to even try and take any photos on our special picnic day – so I guess that you will just have to take my word for it then that the Green Point Urban Park is an absolutely PERFECT spot for these sort of outdoor family gatherings.

Definitely not the worst way to have celebrated this year’s Mother’s Day then.

My folks invited Chantelle, Jess and myself to join them for a Lotter Clan weekend away at Pinnacle Point, and seeing as the three of us haven’t been away together in who knows how long, we jumped at the opportunity! We left Gordon’s Bay on the Saturday morning, only to return on Tuesday afternoon, meaning that the three of us enjoyed a well and truly proper little break of rest and relaxation.

As you can imagine with weather as good as what it was for the duration of our stay, naturally there was plenty of swimming to be had, not to mention trips out to Mossel Bay and George (soft serve ice cream for the win!), plenty of good food on offer, and we even managed to squeeze in a delicious birthday lunch at the Mossel Bay harbour in celebration of my mom’s birthday!

Oh, and Jessica got her first taste of a trampoline as well.

Mom and Dad’s week at Pinnacle Point session had rolled into play once again, and this time around it attracted the interest of the entire Lotter clan, meaning that Mom, Dad, Ryan, Claire, Jessie and myself were all making the trip through to Mossel Bay to enjoy some well deserved time away from work.

Unfortunately neither of our partners in crime (i.e. Riley or Chantelle) could make it up with us, but despite this we all enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing family weekend away! (And I even got to experience some golf on the awesome Pinnacle Point golf course!)

A Couple of Meet and Greet with the Lotter Clan Photos Jessica 17 AUG 2011

Back on 31 December 2010, my mom and dad got to properly meet and hold little Jessie for the very first time, where else, but in our beautifully prepared nursery back at Country Mews. Finally back home with us and out of the stifling hospital environment, Jessica was at last ready to meet and greet the world!

And meet and greet she did, with even the two great grannies from the Lotter side of the family making the trip through a handful of days later, in order to say hello to the newest addition to the Lotter clan! :)

(And how lucky for us, nowadays there is always a camera on hand to capture the moment! Of course, this is rather unlucky for you, because it means that 9 out of 10 times, I’m going to feel compelled to share these snaps with you! Like now for instance…)

Quick! A Light Bulb Needs Changing! My Life 29 JAN 2008

Just in case no one really understands why I harp on about the fact that our new family member Riley is so useful when it comes to changing light bulbs, light fittings or generally just getting stuff off the top shelf, perhaps this recent snap from Claire’s wedding in December may help.

In case you can’t figure out which one is Riley, here’s the clue – he is the one standing next to Claire (who is the one in the wedding dress in case you are still lost. Hell, just in case you need a roadmap – – from left – Ryan, Me, Riley, Claire, Pops, Mom).

Amazingly enough, if you look at it for a while you’ll notice that Mom and Pops were in fact impeccable breeders. They somehow managed to grow all three children to the midpoint of the difference in height between the two of them. Amazing!
