Photo Gallery: Trish’s Lord of the Rings 30th Birthday Party (2012-03-10) My Life 10 MAR 2012

In celebration of Trish Storbeck’s 30th birthday, they organised a big Lord of the Rings themed party which needless to say, turned out to be a whole lot of fun (as chronicled here).

A photographer was hired to capture the events of the evening, and these are a couple of photos I managed to grab off Facebook once they finally went live! :)

Photo Gallery: Dad’s Photos of Jessica’s 1st Birthday Party (2011-11-19) My Life | Photo Gallery 19 NOV 2011

We had an absolute blast with Jessica’s 1st birthday party, with lots of family, friends and babies. The weather was awesome, the ball pit lots of fun, food fantastic and the company brilliant. Jessie got loads of presents and as a whole, the day was simply one great big success – even if it did mean the devouring, and thus end of, Chantelle’s cute kitty cat cake!

And whilst I managed to snap a lot of photos (here), I wasn’t the only one armed with a camera on the day. Pops was there sporting his big fancy lens too! :)

Fateful Fondue Fun My Life 26 MAY 2011

Friday 20 May saw us host our first big event at home since the arrival of Jessica late last year, and seeing as it is kind of our trademark, it was time once again to pull out the fondue pots and brandish our long sharp forks.

A good indication of the ever rising cost of food meant that the this particular fondue cost almost twice as much as what it used to cost back in the day, but nevertheless we soldiered on, with Chantelle organising a fantastic platter of ready to fry goodies on the evening, complemented with a delectable selection of breads and ugh, salad (because she says that we have to).

And for pudding?

Well let us just say that it was once again the turn of the world famous chocolate box cake to make its appearance in Country Mews! :)

As for the guests, despite having to arrive in the pitch black darkness of Winter and then having to kind of sit through the period where we battled to get Jessica fed, bathed and into bed, the list included the welcome faces of Ryan and Michelle, Damen and Michelle, Evan and Natasha, Karl and Trish, and of course Mr. Brown (who rumour has it won’t be on our sunny shores for all that much longer!)

What followed was a fun evening of fondue pot battling as the eleven of us elbowed for space in the three available pots, ducked my concerted photographic efforts, laughed at Ryan impaling his hand with a fork bad enough that the blood was flowing freely, attempted to find a working exit strategy for fried samoosas that didn’t involve them going to pieces on you, and of course just enjoyed a fun and stress-free evening of friends, food and cheese sauce. Heck, even the cats were enjoying all the welcome attention they were receiving from everyone!

Oh, and needless to say, the cake went down a right treat with the hungry horde as well!

SingStar Strikes! My Life 15 DEC 2009

So like I mentioned ages ago already, we had invited all the friends over on the Saturday evening preceding Chantelle’s birthday for a bring and braai in celebration of C’s upcoming 29th birthday, and as per usual, it quickly degenerated into yet another night of SingStar battling as Terrance and Trish once again had their way and managed to convince us (or should that be twist our arms) into hauling out the microphones and letting them loose on the poor, unsuspecting public!

As it happens, I actually managed to capture some photos for a change, so where better to post them than here?

So here goes then:

The main SingStar instigators battling it out!

Damen and Michelle were clearly entertained...

...as was Karl and Zania (even if they refused to partake!)

It proved too much for Evan (and a strain for Natasha and Dean by the look of it!)

And Chantelle? Even on her birthday someone has to make the food!

The point? Well, we all had fun, the night was a success, and our neighbours probably still haven’t forgiven us! :)
