Detective Comics Cosplay: Catwoman (Yaya Han) Cosplay 19 AUG 2012

Asian-American Yaya Han is a well known cosplayer gracing the convention scene, famous for her buxom figure and often meticulously detailed costumes. This time around she has drawn on the popular Adam Hughes’ Catwoman design, donning Selina Kyle’s whip and trademark tight clothes – claws out of course!

Selina Kyle, better known as Catwoman is one of Batman’s oldest adversaries and potential love interests, and as such has seen a number of changes and rewrites over the years. However, one thing that has remained constant is her status as an athletic, elite cat burglar – with a penchant for cats.

Whilst she doesn’t possess an super powers as such, she is an Olympic level athlete and gymnast, a highly skilled combatant and of course has all the attributes necessary for any stealthy burglar. Of course, being a burglar puts her squarely on the opposite side of the line from Batman, but as the years have rolled on by, she has been cast as somewhat more of an antihero, making it particularly difficult to know just which side of the fence she straddles.

Nevertheless, certainly a strong female character whom you most definitely don’t want to end up on the wrong side of!

Evangelion 2.0 Cosplay: Asuka Langley Shikinami (Ushijima Iiniku) Cosplay 25 NOV 2011

Ushijima Iiniku (loosely translated, “Good Meat”) is a rather well known ero-cosplayer who specialises in putting together some rather titillating costumes and then putting them on display using her pretty good body to full effect. Needless to say, Asuka’s new test plugsuit introduced in the second Rebuild of Evangelion movie, Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance was too good an opportunity for her to miss showing off!

Evangelion 2.0 Cosplay: Asuka Langley Shikinami (Ushijima Iiniku) Cosplay 31 OCT 2011

Originally Asuka Langley Soryu in the classic Neon Genesis Evangelion television show, this over-confident, loud and slighly obnoxious young Evanglion female pilot was re-introduced in the Rebuild of Evangelion project that seeks to re-make the series into an even truer vision of Hideaki Anno’s legendary anime.

Her family name now changed to Shikinami, this time around Asuka is referred to as holding the rank of captain. She is also no longer infatuated with Kaji and instead of Toji, who died in the original, she test pilots Unit-3 and in addition, survives the Bardiel incident.

Other than that, she still looks good in a plugsuit, even if it is only a test plugsuit.

Mezzo Forte Cosplay: Mikura Suzuki (Omi Gibson) Cosplay 11 SEP 2011

Mezzo Forte, high energy explosive action mixed with a good quantity of very black humour and loads of graphic violence, unfortunately tainted with some rather suspect scenes inserted by an oversexed director, is the subject for today’s Cosplay Sundae entry. And when we talk Mezzo, who else would we mean but our child assassin, Mikura Suzuki!

OS Idol Win-chan (Version 2.0) My Reviews | Toys 19 NOV 2008

I mentioned the fact that Ryan purchased the highly adorable, rather voluptuous and very risqué Win-chan last weekend, a figurine that you can only own if

a) Your girlfriend shares your passion for all things Asian,
b) You don’t have a girlfriend, or
c) You have a sturdy lock on the door to your ‘office’.

Needless to say, I don’t qualify for any of the above three, meaning that Win-chan shall never coyly languish upon my desk. (In any event, Conan and the rest of his barbarian horde probably wouldn’t appreciate her languishing in their spot either.)

Now, back to Win-chan herself.

OS Idol Win-chan Version 2 figurine 1

Her full name is OS Idol Win-chan (Version 2.0) and she doesn’t come from any particular series. Manufactured by Kaiyodo, this 1/7 PVC scale figurine is based on Mine Yoshizaki’s Win-chan character created for Japanese magazine Tech Win, a monthly publication that deals with Microsoft’s Windows operating system.

The model itself is beautifully realized in hard-wearing PVC and is modelled extremely cleanly with almost no seam lines and a particularly cute facial expression. Of course the main outstanding feature is Win-chan’s outrageous hairstyle and the modeller has certainly pulled this one off with quite some flair. Of course, one really has to be squint not to notice the fact that this is one of those bikini-models, so we’ll just leave it at the pose is quite nicely done, well proportioned and manages to come across very playful all rolled into one.

The paint job looks pretty neat and colourful, with no seepages or any real discolorations to speak of. That said, she is just a tad over-shaded on her underside, but seeing as the model isn’t really made to pose this way, this isn’t a particularly glaring problem. Oh, and her stand is actually a pretty nice touch too – a fake ‘Win-chan CD’, thereby by nicely cementing the whole ‘OS Idol’ angle.

The box packaging is pretty good it must be said, complete with fake Windows and Compact Disc logos and also features some original artwork from Mine Yoshizaki. The inside packaging is secure and also provides a good giggle thanks to its female bits hugging moulding :)

All in all, Win-chan is an adorable, risqué little production that is well priced and should fit nicely on any otaku’s desk – provided they fulfil requirements A to C previously mentioned.
