David Finch: The Waking #1 Cover (2010) Comic Book Art | Comic Books 18 MAY 2013

Writer Raven Gregory with the help of artist Vic Drujiniu and Zenescope Entertainment unleashed the four part Zombie miniseries The Waking early 2010.

From their release note: In the big city, four police detectives investigating two routine murders discover that the victims of these crimes are coming back from the dead in search of those responsible for their murders. Now the detectives are in a race against time to find the source of the recent “wakings.” Meanwhile, a father with an incredible ability must choose between avenging his daughter’s death or losing her forever.

Zenescope Entertainment tries something new by stepping away from their usual Babe in Lingerie format of cover artwork and instead employ the fantastic David Finch to paint up this eerie and atmospheric bit of hauntingly beautiful cover art.

Sean Chen and Nei Ruffino: Escape from Wonderland #3 Cover (2009) Comic Book Art | Comic Books 01 SEP 2012

From Zenescope: “The saga continues as Calie finds that the closer she gets to her goal the more dangerous her path becomes. Strange creatures of every sort try to prevent her from reaching her ultimate destination but Calie is determined to let nothing stand in her way of her reaching her daughter and leaving this nightmare once and for all.”

With writer Raven Gregory and artists Daniel Leister and Crank handling the interior of Zenescope’s 2009 Escape from Wonderland issue 3, penciller Sean Chen with the help of inker Nei Ruffino were roped in to provide this suitably dark cover art!

David Nakayama: Return to Wonderland: #2 Reprint Cover (2008) Comic Book Art | Comic Books 17 DEC 2011

2008 saw Zenescope revisit their twisted Alice in Wonderland scenario as part of their Grimm Fairy Tales line, with the aptly titled Return to Wonderland, scripted by Raven Gregory.

From their release note: Welcome to the other side of the rabbit hole. Calie has entered Wonderland and much has changed since her mother last visited this strange and terrifying world. It’s a Wonderland unlike any has seen before and the journey into this twisted realm begins here. Follow Calie’s frightening adventure through a land where nothing makes sense and madness reigns free.

The interior artwork assignment fell to Rich Bonk and Daniel Leister, with the original run of covers churned out by Al Rio and Tyler Kirkham. However, issue 2 proved so popular Zenescope needed a reprint, and to that end they turned to David Nakayama to produce this humorous and sizzling piece of cover art!

While the interior art was handled by Rich Bonk, the cover art assignment was handed to one of the stalwart cover artists for Zenescope, Eric Basadula, and as per usual he cranked out one VERY sexy Through the Looking Glass scene!

Talent Caldwell: Tales from Wonderland: Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum Cover (2009) Comic Book Art | Comic Books 19 NOV 2011

Expanding on their popular twisted Wonderland series, Zenescope Entertainment pumped out a number of one-shot stories based in their original dark Alice in Wonderland re-imagined universe, packaged as Tales from Wonderland. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum is written by Joe Brusha and Raven Gregory with interior artwork from Axel Medellin, Salvador Navarro and Daniel Leister.

From their release note: A young teen is constantly pushed by his demanding and overbearing father, but what happens when the father and son find themselves transported to a world that can easily turn everything you know into a nightmare of epic proportions? The tables are turned as two men become three and one of them seeks a new kind of revenge. Enter a world where madness reigns supreme, enter the world of Wonderland!
