Capcom’s creation, Chun-Li must go down as one of the legends in the all important gaming fighting genre. Making her first appearance in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Chun-Li has since gone on to appear in just about all subsequent Street Fighter fighting games.

Her Mandarin name of Chun (Spring) Li (Beautiful), in other words a single young girl filled with the beauty of spring, completely belies her true nature and prowess, as this battle-hardened warrior can hold her head up high amongst the toughest of them out there.

For her backstory, Chun-Li is painted as an undercover Interpol agent who enters the Street Fighter tournament in order to get closer to the enigmatic and evil M. Bison, who happens to have murdered her father. Armed with her vicious Lightning Kick, this girl is quite simply out for revenge!

One last notable thing to mention is that Chun-Li holds the honour of being the first playable female character in a fighting game, meaning she now proudly holds the title of “First Lady of Fighting Games” – among enthusiasts of course.

Queen’s Blade Cosplay: Alleyne (Saku) Cosplay 26 OCT 2013

Voiced by Eri Kitamura in the original Japanese outing, then by Kelli Sahne for Season 1 of the English release and Kenzie Brooke for Season 2 release, it falls however to the Japanese sometimes ero-cosplayer Saku to become closer with Mother Nature and bring the ancient forest-dwelling fighting master elf, Alleyne to life! (From the infamous Queen’s Blade franchise in case you were wondering).

Alleyne is a 1000 year-old elf and the most seasoned veteran warrior of a tribe of forest elves. She is taciturn and blunt in her dealings with others (her most notable trait is when she gives points to her opponents based on their performance), and had a long relationship with Echidna, whom she often chastises for her loose ways but is mocked in return for her inexperience with men, being called “The Thousand Year-Old Virgin”.

The appearance of the half-elf Nowa in the forest elf community marked a turning point for Alleyne, who appointed her as “Guardian of the Forest”. The Elf Council did not approve, however, and banished her from the village with the excuse that she must join the Queen’s Blade tournament. Unwilling to abandon Nowa, Alleyne secretly sets out for the tournament as well. Following the tournament, she and Nowa went their separate ways.

In Queen’s Blade Rebellion, it is revealed that Alleyne is the last elf in existence following a genocide in her forest by the Swamp Witch’s forces, and that the Swamp Witch placed a curse on Alleyne that forbids her from leaving the forest. During that time, she met Annelotte, who was trying to escape from Queen Claudette’s Assassins. After tending to her wounds, she, after some persuasion from Annelotte, takes her in as her second disciple. She was the first to witness Annelotte’s demon powers when a lightning storm struck the forest.

Fate/Stay Night Cosplay: Rin Tohsaka (Saku) Cosplay 26 APR 2013

Popular Japanese cosplayer Saku tackles the enjoyable Fate/Stay Night franchise for this cosplay outing, targeting the heroine magus Rin Tohsaka as her character of choice!

Rin Tohsaka is a model student and idol of Shiro’s school. She barely talks to other students in her school and exhibits a desire to be left alone, as exemplified by her tendency to stay on the school’s rooftop, away from the rest of the students. She is also secretly a Magus, and a Master in the Fifth Holy Grail War. In the beginning of the anime, she summons Archer for her Servant, although she originally wanted to summon Saber.

Rin is reared as the successor to her family’s magecraft, instructed by her father, Tokiomi Tohsaka, to prioritize sorcery over her own interests. After her father is killed, Rin continues to perfect her sorcery, with some guidance from her guardian, Kirei Kotomine. She strives to earn the admiration of her peers to avoid drawing attention to her private life, even though she is secretly stingy, tomboyish, and a slacker. She is perceptive, resourceful and avidly competitive.

Rin specializes in the transformation of energy, which includes storage of Mana in objects. She stores all of her mana in jewels that she regularly charges to bypass her body’s natural limitations on releasing energy. She can detonate her jewels on contact with an object, resulting in a release of energy equivalent to an attack rank of “A”. Her most common offensive spell is Gandr, which fires concentrated mana in the form of a black orb from her finger. On contact, the spell amplifies physical conditions – a person who is already sick, for example, becomes far sicker upon being hit, but she can imbue it with such power that it instantly knocks weaker beings out on contact. Rin is also proficient with reinforcement sorcery, which she uses on her legs to give herself more speed. She is known to be somewhat of a prodigy in magecraft – while most magi are proficient at one, sometimes two elements, Rin possesses the very rare trait of being equally skilled in all five and is thus known as an Average One.
