Comic Art: Hulk vs. Thing by Simon Bisley Comic Book Art | Comic Books 05 DEC 2011

It is a classic match up in the comic book world, namely the unstoppable Incredible Hulk versus the Fantastic Four’s resident rocky orange power house, the Thing. Both don’t give up much in terms of raw power and to a degree, invulnerability, making for a proper knock down slugfest every time these two go head to head.

But what happens when you turn this power battle of street shattering proportions over to one of the world’s finest producers of psychotic, stylized, twisted, dark and dramatic art, British-born 90’s punk comic art legend, Simon Bisley?

Which child of the 80’s/90’s doesn’t remember the iconic hard-shelled and green, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and of course Michaelangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gang? These butt-kicking turtles were at one stage ruling the world thanks to their stamp on everything from television to toys to lunch boxes. But what happens when you turn something as kid friendly as the ninja turtles over to one of the world’s finest producers of psychotic, stylized, twisted, dark and dramatic art, British-born 90’s punk comic art legend, Simon Bisley?

Is this the face of a madman glaring back at you? The face of the baddest bastich in the galaxy?

That’s right, even DC couldn’t have expected the popularity that went with this guy when they unleashed him on the unsuspecting public for the very first time in his very own miniseries way back in 1990.

With outrageous art from Simon Bisley to match Alan Grant’s edgy, black humour-dripping writing, Lobo quickly garnered a bit of a cult following, and remains to this day one of those edgy, away from mainstream characters that all the un-hip, underground fanboys secretly love.

Anyway, with a piercing cover like this, courtesy of Simon Bisley himself, there is no way Lobo wasn’t going to be grabbing your attention from the get go!
