What If Superman in Man of Steel was actually Colourful? Moving Pictures Notes 24 APR 2015

I didn’t really enjoy Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel to be quite honest. In fact, I haven’t really “loved” any of Snyder’s movies, probably because of his insistence of visual style over, I don’t know, acting/story/emotional depth. Harsh, and probably undeservedly so – after all, I’m no trained movie critic.

Anyway, not that any of the above has anything to do with what is about to follow mind you.

A guy by the name of Bryan Sanders and his colleagues wondered out aloud what Man in Steel would look like if was actually colourful, you know, how Superman ought to be, instead of all grey and saturated and in need of appearing in an angsty Batman movie.

Check it out:

Definitely an interesting little project. Personally, I think more colour would be awesome, but even with that, it still wouldn’t have saved this dour, depressing, and not very Superman-spirited, Superman movie.

Thoughts?

The Superman 75th Anniversary Animated Short Comic Book Notes 16 OCT 2013

superman statue based on jim lee artworkThe 75th anniversary of Superman officially kicks off with this amazing super-short film created by Bruce Timm (Superman: The Animated Series) and Zack Snyder (Man of Steel), and produced by Warner Bros. Animation.

This animated short follows Superman through the years, from his first appearance on the cover of Action Comics #1 all the way through to Henry Cavill in this year’s Man of Steel.

Seriously, there’s so much history in this two-minute film, it’s enough to make any fanboy quiver with happiness!

The official DC Blog went and wrote up a full breakdown of the video, and I thought it worth saving here just in case they go ahead and lose it in the next site redesign (which always seems to happen).

Sucker Punch Cosplay: Babydoll (Iori) Cosplay 28 MAY 2013

While actress Emily Browning got to bring the scantily clad Babydoll to life on the big screen, Japanese cosplayer Iori was not to be left out either.

After all, who doesn’t want to hold a sword or point a gun whilst dressed like a Catholic schoolgirl?

Her mother dead, she and her sister are trapped with a vicious drunkard of a stepfather who wishes nothing more than to harm the two of them. A stray bullet and tragedy are enough to send Babydoll to the insane asylum for a lobotomy in order to hide the truth, which is exactly what forces this disturbed 20 year old girl to escape into the confines of her own mind and tackle a quest that is not of reality at all.

A skilled acrobatic dancer armed with a katana and a pistol, this is Sucker Punch’s Babydoll.

Sucker Punch Cosplay: Sweet Pea (Illyne) Cosplay 22 JUN 2012

French cosplayer Illyne picks up her sword and dons her armour as she transforms herself into Sweet Pea, the only girl to come out alive in director Zack Snyder’s visual masterpiece, Sucker Punch.

Sweet Pea is Rocket’s older sister, and out of all the girls, probably the one closest to being sane. She together with her sister ended up in the asylum following their running away from home.

In the fantasy world, she uses a silver broadsword for close range fighting, complemented by a customized M4 rifle for the longer range stuff.

By the end of the film, Sweet Pea is the only girl to successfully escape, though her passage in the real world is nearly thwarted by the police, though thankfully for her, help in the form of a bus driver was close at hand!

Sweet Pea is played by Abbie Cornish in the movie.
