The insanely popular Mobile Suit Gundam space war anime franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and what better way to pay homage to this anime giant than construct a colossal 18-meter-tall Gundam Mobile Suit?
Set to open pubically on July 11, this giant robot is built with fiberglass-reinforced plastic over a steel frame (for easy disassembly later), features a moving head unit, 50 lights and mist-emitting devices located over 14 points spread around its body. The structure is being erected on Tokyo’s artificial Odaiba island and as you can see from the visitor-posted videos below, so far head movements, sound-effects and mist generation all appear to be in working condition.
Needless to say, just how awesome is this bit of fanboy indulgence!? :)
