With vaccinations now finally a reality, life is very much returning to normal, and perfect timing too, as October saw the family and friends all travel through to Anna Beulah farm on the outskirts of Durbanville to come together and celebrate the big 70th birthday of Chantelle’s dad Monty.
Anna Beulah in its current form is relatively new, having started from an organic veggie garden that was thrown open to the locals around 2013. Since then it has grown into somewhat of a quaint, rural kind of escape to the farmland space for the people of Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs, and currently has quite a few pokers in the fire – from selling organic freshly harvested produce from its farm shop, producing good food from both its restaurant and deli, offering multiple overnight accommodation options in the form of cottages and cabins, entertaining kids through feeding the farm animals and tackling ceramics, pottery & crafts in their studio, all the way to hosting functions and events both big and small, from picturesque weddings to fun filled kids’ parties.
As for the big birthday bash, our group took over Anna Beulah’s main venue “Our Place”, where for the rest of the day we mingled, ate, drank, and enjoyed the music and celebratory atmosphere. Speeches and toasts were made, lunch was devoured, and of course Chantelle took the reigns and served up the most delectable of dessert tables for the function.
In other words, a great success!
(Honestly, I didn’t even know about this space before the big party, but now that I do, I reckon I’ll be making a few more trips to this rather remote little Durbanville treasure!)
