Delicious home made breakfast, putt putt with my girls, waffles and a walk. A pretty relaxed, full of family time, Father’s Day was had this year. As far as I know, there are two outdoor putt putt, or mini golf as it is otherwise known, courses here in the Helderberg, both situated in Strand – the one being part of Strand Golf Course and the other nestled next to Water World Strand on Beach Road.

The simply named “Putt Putt” course by the beach was our battleground of choice, and after collecting our putters and shiny white balls, the intense battle for hole-in-ones began. We opted for the eighteen hole course (you can otherwise sign up to play both if you have the time/inclination), and although I walked away with the eventual win, the Jessica won the battle when it came to sinking the ball on the first stroke. Emily is also starting to get the hang of the game much more, so it shouldn’t be too long before she’s challenging for our crowns as well!

In summary: a reasonably easy, uncomplicated course that ticks all the putt putt boxes, is situated under bright blue skies against the sand dunes of Strand Beach, and of course is perfectly positioned for an ice cream and stroll along the promenade afterwards.

We however opted for following up this epic war with some Belgian waffles instead.
