On our way over to Montagu for our recent short little holiday getaway to Badensfontein, we hopped off the R60 (just past Worcester) and headed up the small hillock whose summit is dominated by the very welcoming Nuy on the Hill, the family friendly restaurant, deli and tasting room for Nuy Winery.

Perched at the top of its hill, overlooking the seemingly endless vineyards and the slopes of the Nuy Valley, Nuy on the Hill is a beautifully constructed showpiece for the nearby winery, an elegant blend of wood, stone and glass elements. The modern tasting room is accompanied by a spacious, naturally lit restaurant venue that comes with great views over the semi-desert Karoo surroundings.

In addition to the indoor entertainment space, Nuy on the Hill also features a lush green lawn which provides ample outdoor seating for when the weather simply demands to be enjoyed. The deli is well stocked with local produce (and of course lots of wine), while the restaurant produces a wide choice of dishes ranging from tapas, woodfired pizzas, hamburgers and steaks, to even a selection of banting dishes.

In other words, a really lekker way to kick our little holiday off with!

An easy lunch stop to recommend.
