There’s no shortage of lush greenery to admire in the leafy foothills of Constantia, and indeed, if you are looking for a place to pull up a chair and soak up some tranquility away from all the bustling around you, then the Tea Garden Café at Little Stream most definitely fits the bill.
Little Stream is a beautiful 7 acre large garden estate that interestingly is owned and operated by the YMCA, having being gifted it after the passing of the estate’s previous owner, the heirless Welsh born but South African raised philanthropist Muriel Jones (1890-1974). As a revenue generating asset for the YMCA organisation, Little Stream is perfectly set up to host intimate functions like kitchen tea parties, private lunches, weddings, team building events, and also has the necessary conference facilities to host small business groups.
The Farm Deli and Tea Garden Café is however the estate’s bread and butter, offering an incredible garden setting that is surrounded by tall trees and lush greenery all around. There is a massive maze of pathways, grounds, a bubbling stream, and garden to explore and if the weather is good, then picnics on the invitingly green lawns is a must. Silly sculptures and whimsical details are spread throughout to keep the little ones entertained, and indeed, this whole estate just makes for an absolutely lovely gathering spot for families with kids.
I mean, just look at the swing hanging from that tree – you try and persuade your kids that it is time to leave! 😅
