Frollicking at Funky Frogs (2015-11-14) Photo Gallery 21 NOV 2015

Jessica, Emily and I found ourselves having to kill some time before we were allowed into Jessica’s birthday party venue (Ouma’s house!) last Saturday, so other than the nice nature stroll in Vink’s Arboretum that we took, I also let the girls run wild in the fun Funky Frogs indoor play centre at Tygervalley.

Funky Frogs indoor play centres is actually a pretty decent franchise now, with seven play centres open in places that include Jeffreys Bay, Port Elizabeth, East London, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Johannesburg and Swaziland!

The Cape Town branch which is actually nowhere near Cape Town – i.e. it’s in Bellville – first opened its doors in December 2012 at Cobble Walk Centre in Durbanville, before moving to its current location in Tygervalley Centre, Bellvile in 2013.

As you might have guessed via the photos, it’s packed with colourful things for the kids to play on – and with – and is a genuinely enjoyable experience for the smaller ones.

Oh, and they also host birthday parties as well.

Needless to say, the kids had a blast, and pleasingly, didn’t completely tire themselves out before the big birthday celebrations officially started! :)

(P.S. My phone camera seriously struggles to capture decent photos in Funky Frogs. Too much movement, too little light. Sigh.)

Building up to Easter at Bossa Social Cafe (2015-04-03) Photo Gallery 20 AUG 2015

Oops, stumbled across another small set of photos that I completely neglected to post way back in April. I’ve already mentioned what a nice Easter we enjoyed this year, complete with excited Easter egg hunt and visit to the legendary Scratch Patch, but these photos were grabbed at the start of the long weekend, when we paid a family food visit to Bossa Social Cafe, a pretty hip and popular hangout spot in Somerset West that doubles as a pretty good place for families with kids to visit as well!

Big grass lawn, sandpit, two jungle gyms, and plenty of outdoor seating, means that Chantelle and I can laze behind some tall refreshing glasses of whatever tickles our fancy on the day, while the kids run wild.

In other words, highly recommended if you’re looking for something local that caters for kids, but isn’t exactly aimed at kids either!

(That said, Emily’s favourite part of Easter Weekend 2015 must have been the impromptu visit to Funky Frogs in Tygervalley for a play session – she had an absolute ball!)

(However, my favourite part of the weekend might just have been the special Easter cookies Chantelle surprised me with!)

Park First, then Funky Frogs (2014-05-11) Photo Gallery 09 JAN 2015

Last year I celebrated my birthday by of course, doing things with my kids. Stationed in Bellville following a great night out with Chantelle (burgers and the big wheel at the Waterfront) the previous evening, we kicked things off with a trip to the local Ridgeworth park, before discovering a gem of a place in the form of Funky Frogs.

Funky Frogs is conveniently located in Tygervalley, tucked away in one of the shopping pods in the underground parking section of the shopping mall. Essentially it is one big space filled with all manner of kids’ entertainment, which you access by handing over a little bit of money for a set period of play time.

Plus, whilst the kids have an absolute ball, you can pull up a chair, grab a magazine, and drink a nice refreshing cup of coffee to pass the time. (If of course your child allows you to relax!)

So if you have small kids, then definitely a thumbs up!

(Thankfully, not all was lost in terms of at least some adult entertainment on my birthday. I received some pretty good craft beer from Peter, and as we all know, beer always makes everything better!)
